contribute significantly to traditional military operations in conflict situations

The parachute order is an elite unit that operates within the army’s airborne forces.Members of this elite army core are known as paratroopers.

Prior to their first deployment in 1941 the British had little experience in parachute infantry combat.Their theories were based on what other countries such as Germany had been doing with gliders. The US on the other hand had already begun to implement parachute disciplines into their battalions before the outbreak of WWII.

After the first attempts of the British in 1941 the use of paratroopers became more frequent. The airborne force became a significant weapon for the allied forces in WWII.Subsequently they have played a role in many conflicts including recent conflict in the Middle East.

The parachute infantry played a major role in overcoming the German onslaught in WWII.Many missions completed during this time by the parachute infantry were considerable damaging to enemy forces. The most successful parachute infantry mission in history is Operation Varsity. This was the largest force ever deployed by the para military. It was a major turning point in the war and marked the beginning of the German downfall.

The effectiveness of these troopers comes down to their ability to maneuver in areas of dense jungle. bush and other intrepid places. They can be deployed in over any area that a plane can fly which forces their enemies to focus manpower on eliminating this threat.

In order for the regiment infantry to maneuver in this way they are lightly equipped in terms of weaponry. They are highly mobile and intensively trained.Paratroopers have become a strong support for traditional forces and are able to provide a unique dimension to offensive and defensive military maneuvers.

Andrew Some historians even trace the first parachutes back to China in the 1100s. That's a long distance, in years and miles, away from skydiving San Diego. But if you are in the southern California area and want to do some San Diego parachuting, it's good to know you have history on your side.

The modern history of skydiving began at the end of the 18th century, when stunt performers in France first began doings jumps out of hot-air balloons. It wasn't long after the invention of the airplane that people got the idea to leap out of that. Skydiving, skydiving school, and the aircraft to support the sport really took off after World War II.

Then Raymond Young, the famous founding father of the sport, came up with the term "skydiving" and its become a fun and famous, and for some people profitable, pastime ever since. Skydiving school and commercial jump sites opened all over the United States, and the world. California is no different. To skydive in San Diego, you have a wealth of nearby options, as well as options up the coast.

To stay local in southern California, though, you'll want to first check out these spots for skydiving San Diego, Some of San Diego parachuting opportunity is just right outside of the city.

Pacific Coast Skydiving, for instance, is just 20 miles south of the San Diego airport. They specialize in tandem beginner jumps, but they also have room on the aircraft for fun jumpers as well.

Skydive San Diego does just that, giving you the prime chance to skydive in San Diego. You can't beat the scenery either, with clear views of Mexico and the Pacific.

Of course, don't feel limited by the confines of the San Diego metropolitan area. Skydiving lessons and jumps can be had from San Jose to Sacramento, Fresno to Frisco, no matter if you're a beginner looking for your first tandem ride or an old-hat looking for jump number 1.001. After all, California is right at home with extreme sports like skydiving, surfing, skateboarding, and rock climbing. You name it, Californians do it.

Andrew Caxton is a reliable journalist who has published more articles on this issue for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com. There is no greater thrill than taking the video home after your skydiving experience, popping it into the VCR or DVD, and watching you and your friends freefalling at ten thousand feet. A skydiving video is almost like reliving the experience all over again, minus the harness riding up on you!

But what are some of best ways to take pictures of people parachuting? And how much does such as skydiving video cost? These questions can be answered by the staff at the particular parachuting center that you go to, and answers will vary depending on your location and needs. But here are some general answers that are usually true no matter where you’re jumping.

One main question that people have when they want videos or photos of a jump is whether or not they can get a group shot of all of their friends jumping at the same time. The answer is no, unless you’re writing the military parachuting manual and are pro-grade stunt jumpers. In most cases, beginner or intermediate skydivers will have leaping at more than a quarter mile apart. That makes filming all of you at the same time impossible.

People also ask whether or not they can made their own photos or pictures of a jump. If you’re on the ground, taking photos of your friends as they fall toward the ground, that’s one thing. Shoot away! But if you’re the one doing the actual skydiving, don’t expect to be able to bring your own filming or photography equipment.

Don’t worry, though. Most parachuting centers have multimedia experts at their disposal to make these videos and pics for you. Some even allow you to bring your music CDs, and they will splice the music into your video to make it as personalized and exciting as possible. They’ll even let you add footage of an interview with you before the takeoff, an interview after your jump, as well as scenes of your take-off, exit, freefall, and your landing.

For still photos, the options aren’t as varied, but the one benefit is instant access to your images. Many jump centers will take a whole roll’s worth of pictures and either hand over the roll to you for instant development, or e-mail you the digital pics.

Andrew Caxton is a consultant who writes on many consumer topics like the above article at http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com For additional information on skydiving subjects follow this link about skydive lessons

Las Vegas Sky Diving

The thrill of Las Vegas lies not only in its casinos and desert but meters up in the sky as you skydive your way into one of the most memorable experiences of your life. It involves breaking one's free-fall using a parachute. Military personnel are trained to sky dive for a variety of reasons. Individuals learn how to sky drive for the thrill and excitement it provides. Because of the popularity of sky diving, a lot of sky diving schools have increased. The credibility of a lot of these diving schools are always in question, especially the newer sky diving schools.

Since skydiving may be extremely dangerous when not done right, it is very important to choose a reliable and certified skydiving school. It is also equally important to shop around for sky diving schools and compare their services, methods, and rates first before deciding on enrolling in a sky diving course. Check for the certifications offered by national and international sky diving school associations and also verify the credentials of the instructors and the programs that the school teaches. It is also a safe bet to check the equipment and devices that they use prior to enrollment.

Before even jumping, sky diving schools first practice the necessary skills needed for skydiving. This may be done through the use of vertical wind tunnels when practicing free falls and through skydiving simulators when practicing parachute control. Sky diving schools may offer a range of courses ranging from the most basic course to the most advanced. They may also promote different ways of teaching individuals how to skydive. Tandem skydiving entails that the skydiving student be connected via a harness to his/her teacher or tandem master who controls the jump from exit, freefall, and landing. This method is very popular among first-time skydivers as it gives the students a feel of the entire skydiving routine.

Diving provides detailed information on Diving, Scuba Diving, Sky Diving, Cliff Diving and more. If you're skydiving New Jersey, though, you can rest assured that it'd be hard to make the wrong decision. That's because New Jersey parachuting

is some of the best on the East Coast. When you skydive in New Jersey, you have great options to pick from, no matter where you happen to live in the south or north of the state.

When skydiving New Jersey, though, you'll want to keep the following in mind for your safety and enjoyment. Your first choice if your New Jersey parachuting experience is your first, is to decide whether you want to do a tandem jump, a line jump, or an accompanied jump.

Tandem jumps may be your best bet when you first skydive in New Jersey, just because you, the beginner, has no responsibility. You can just sit back, figuratively speaking of course, and enjoy

your skydiving New Jersey experience as your tandem master worries about altitude and pulling the cord. The best thing about tandem skydiving, as well, is that you don't even know that the tandem master is attached to your back. You're too busy enjoying the freefall.

Serious skydivers can also consider taking skydiving lessons at a New Jersey location. Many places allow you to participate in the eight-jump skydiving student program offered by the United States Parachute Association, or you can choose to take skydiving lessons lesson by lesson.

Either way, be sure to call around at the following New Jersey skydiving locations or more information:

Freefall Adventures/Skydive Crosskeys is situated just outside of Philadelphia in southern New jersey. Located in Williamstown, it is considered one of the top skydiving schools in all of the

northeast.

Skydive Jersey Shore is up north toward New York and located on the picturesque Jersey shore. This skydiving center takes pride in catering toward first-time jumpers.

New York Skydiving School/Skydive Sussex is, you guessed it, located in Sussex near the Big Apple. It offers the unique experience of a first-jump altitude of 13,500 feet, which you won't find at too many other locations.

Andrew Caxton is the author and editor of many resources published at http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com . Michigan offers some of the best skydive centers around. That explains why Michigan skydiving is a cut above when it comes to training and learning to be the best skydiver you can be. While skydiving in Michigan. you can expand your jumping horizons to include the highest level of expert jumping.

This could even involve demo jumps. which are usually what you see on the evening news when advanced jumpers perform stunts in groups and solo. These demo jumps could be organized to break some sort of record. or they could be used to put on a special exhibition at a special event. Whatever their reason. these demo jumps are only for the highly advanced jumper. and the jump site and all participants must be cleared by both the USPA and the FAA. For instance. all jumpers need the USPA PRO Exhibition Rating to perform in these.

To get such a rating why skydiving in Michigan. you’ll need to first gave a USPA D license. Then you must be able to show that you can land properly with the exact parachute you plan to use while doing your skydive in the demo jump. Plus. you will need to find a Michigan skydiving center where you can be trained to use pyrotechnic tools and flags. which you may or may not use in the demo jump.

With these skills. and the PRO rating. you are then legally allowed to jump over crowds and land close to them. which would be a prerequisite if you plan to be entertaining people with your skydive prowess. Where can you attain all of these qualifications while skydiving in Michigan. While many seem to think that an extreme sport like parachuting has its roots in recent history, it has, in fact, been around for centuries.

In 852 A.D., Arman Firman, a Muslim holy man, jumped from a tower in Cordoba, Spain. At the time, he was wearing a billowy, large cloak. While in theory this should have slowed him down and allowed him to float gently to the earth (he also believed this to be true), it did little to help his jump. He crashed to the earth at a frightening speed, but lived to tell the tale of the first parachute jump.

A cloak, however, is not a true parachute. Most give credit to Leonardo Da Vinci for creating the first designs of parachutes. Da Vinci spent years studying birds. He truly believed human flight was possible. He, therefore, spent an extensive amount of time trying to create a vehicle that might help man fly. While Da Vinci never tried any of his ideas, he left behind sketches and instructional texts dealing with the first parachute jump.

Over the course of the next few hundred years, others tried to create the first parachute jump, but none succeeded. All were unrecorded events. Andre Jacques Garnerin, in 1797, jumped from a hot air balloon with a chute made of silk. It looked as if he were following Da Vinci's designs. The first parachute jump was a success, but there was little use for the parachute. It was considered only for show.

However, with the creation of airplanes, parachutes became more useful vehicles. By World War II, they were standard issue equipment for pilots as life saving devices. Today, hundreds of people make their first parachute jump each day. Parachuting has become an extreme sport of magnificent popularity. First timers take several hours of training to complete the first parachute jump. They are trained in everything they need to know to make the jump safe including what equipment is used during a jump, how to leave the plane they'll be jumping from, how to us a reserve chute in case the first doesn't open, and how to land. Historically, the first parachute jump is in question, but thousands make their first parachute jump each year.

John Ewing is the author and editor of many reviews published at parachuting guide, an online magazine with information on skydiving, including equipment such as skydiving clothes and powered parachutes. Ewing used to add interesting skydiving equipment articles for beginners and first time jumpers.

Skydive Training Programs - Essential for the Serious Skydiver

If you are serious about skydiving and if you really want to get the best from your jump then a skydive training program is just what you need. Some of the best training programs in America can be found in New Jersey and they are suitable for both beginners and experts alike. The programs are essential if you want to jump on your own and throughout the program you will have a jumpmaster strapped to you teaching you everything that you need to know to prepare yourself.

Some of the Best Skydive Training Centers in New Jersey

Whilst there are a number of skydive training centers around New Jersey, some are better than others. So if you are looking for some of the best New Jersey skydive training programs then you should try out the following:

• The Skydive Jersey Shore

If you decide to try out the skydiving experience at skydive Jersey shore, you can expect to experience sixty seconds of freefalling before gliding back down to the ground for between five and seven minutes. A tandem jumping experience can cost around $195 if you go throughout the week but on a weekend it will cost you $215. You may be able to find deals for groups which are ideal if you want to go skydiving on a family activity. The center also offers you the chance to have your experience captured on DVD. The only real drawback is that you have to be 18 to actually jump so it is not suitable with families with younger children. There is also a weight restriction of 220 pounds.

• Freefall Adventures

You will find the Freefall Adventures center near the Cross Keys airport and the good news is that it is open seven days a week. As with the Skydive Jersey Shore center, you will be able to experience what it is like to freefall for sixty seconds before once again gliding back down to the ground for between five to seven minutes.

Tandem jumps are slightly less expensive here at just $149 and you can even experience an extreme tandem jump. This is basically where you jump out of a turbine helicopter whilst it hovers in the air. If you are a serious skydiver then you will also be interested to know that there is an AFF program where you can work up to jumping on your own.

If you are looking to get to these centers then for the Skydive Jersey Shore center you should take the exit 98 if you are driving, whilst you are on the Garden State Parkway. You then have to go north on route 34 and turn left when you reach the first set of traffic lights which will lead you onto Hurleys Pond road. You only have to drive around 100 yards until you reach the entrance of the airport and then you will see signposts to the Skydive Jersey Shore. If you are not driving then it is possible to get the New Jersey train straight to Belmar and then get a cab which will take you to the center.

If you want to get to the Freefall Adventures Center then you have a number of options if you are driving. From Philadelphia you can either choose to go on the Walt Whitman or the Ben Franklin Bridge onto route 42 and then you will get to Atlantic City Expressway if you keep going. Once there you need to take the exit 41 and continue going right as you drive past the Home Depot. As soon as you reach Tuckahoe Rd you will need to turn left and then go right onto Dahlia Avenue. It is then only a short drive to the center.

John Ewing contributes adding long articles on New Jersey sky views for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com . A favorite of those with a penchant for thrills, this hobby can be a little costly, but for those in love with its draw, nothing compares with a clean jump for fun, excitement and pure adrenaline rush. The fun of it all is what keeps people coming back.

There are those, of course, who say "Why jump out of a perfectly operable plane?" Skydive lovers will respond: "because it's there." The views, the thrills and the sheer excitement combine to make this sport one that's loved by people the world over. Jumpers can virtually be of any age as long as their physical condition doesn't impede them from taking part in this thrill-seeking sport.

First time jumpers will find the experience is like no other. Just imagine standing thousands of feet above the earth's surface and jumping to the depths below. Freefalling through the sky as the view below is taken in in all its glory. Nothing, absolutely, nothing compares.

For those with a desire to skydive, there are plenty of locations the world over willing to take first-timers and even fiftieth-timers on tandem jumps or offer training for solo jumps. From Florida and California to Colorado, Europe and beyond, any place there's a small airport, there's likely to be a skydiving opportunity available.

First timers will find that most jump locations require them to go tandem at least for a while. Specialized classes generally are required for those who want to jump. The on the ground training will generally be offered at no charge for those who want to jump. If the schooling scares them off, there's no charge.

The courses cover the basics involved in jumping and prepare those new at skydiving for what to expect. Since most beginners' jumps are tandem, though, the student shouldn't have to worry about needing to know it all as an expert. Tandem jumps are assisted by experienced divers who handle all the necessary maneuvering so the "newbie" can kick back and enjoy the view - provided his or her eyes are open!

So, what's the appeal of jumping from a plane? The view, of course! Sky dive locations in places such as Las Vegas, for example, give participants a view of the earth from several miles above the ground below. Imagine being able to take in the Strip, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Colorado River all at once! Nothing quite compares.

It might not be for everyone, but those who love to skydive say they do it for the thrills, the freedom and the views. Few things can come close to the thrill of a freefall from several miles up while the eyes take in sights only the birds are generally privy to. The sport in and of itself is loved by thousands the world over of all ages. Getting started, too, isn't as expensive as it might seem and generally there's no risk for those who just want to "check it out" before they commit.

More Resources

Skydiving
http://www.skydivingthrills.com
Scuba gear

http://www.scubagearhq.com

Skydive and Free Fall Answers

What are the risks? As with any sport there is always the risk of injury. However. with the proper instruction. the right equipment. and the development of the right techniques. skydiving can be the safest and most personally fulfilling hobby you could choose. WARNING: there is the risk of addiction!!! This is one sport that just never gets boring!

What would be the best training method for me? It is very important that you first consider your options here. There are three types of training available.

The first is the Tandem Jump. Tandem jumping is probably the most popular way to make that first jump. The ground training for a tandem jump last for only about 30 minutes for starters. Instead of a parachute rig attached to your back. you will have a highly trained and knowledgeable instructor (with a chute strapped to his back) securely strapped to you. The instructor will maintain complete control of the jump from the time you step out of the plane until your feet are once again planted firmly on terra-firma (the ground).

The next method of training is Static Line. For this method of training. you will be required to complete four to five hours of ground training before making that first jump. After ground training you will be taken to an altitude of about 3000 feet where you will simply step out and fall. A line attached to the plane will deploy your parachute for you. After two good static line jumps. you will begin free fall practice.

The third method of training is the Accelerated Free Fall. For all you adrenalin junkies out there this is most likely going to be the method for you; free fall on the first jump!!! After completing the required ground training you will jump into a plane and take off. Once the proper altitude is reached. you and two instructors. who will maintain hands-on contact with you at all times. will jump back out of that airplane into true free fall. The instructors will assist you in maintaining proper orientation. as well as making sure you pull the ripcord at the right time.

Is that all you need to know? Not by a long shot!! Do the research. Call around to some of your local drop zones and talk to some pro’s. and get enrolled in a jump school. The next “step” is up to you.

Andrew Caxton is a reliable journalist who has published more articles on this issue for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com For additional information on skydiving subjects follow this link Skydive

Is New Jersey A Good Place To Skydive?

Are you worried about skydiving?

Do you desperately want to skydive but you are worrying about undergoing lots of different tests and training? It could be that you are absolutely terrified about doing the skydive and you would like some moral support and this is where tandem diving comes in.

Everything You Need to Know About Tandem Skydiving

Tandem skydiving could be the answer to allow people to enjoy the whole experience without the need for any extended written exams. Basically with a tandem skydive, the person is connected to an experienced skydiver using a harness. The great thing about this is that they will control the whole jump including the jumping, freefalling, using the parachute and then the landing too. Because of all this, the student will only need a minimal amount of instructions to keep in mind for the jump. This takes the stress out of worrying about the jump and just enjoying the whole experience.

A great place to go skydiving is with Skydive Jersey Shore who are there to make a skydivers experience the best that it can be. They ask you to fill in paperwork before you attend a 30 minute class and they will cover the equipment, safety, how to land, freefalling etc. As a student you will be told about everything that is associated with skydiving to mentally prepare you for jumping out of the plane.

You will be about 2 miles up and being mentally prepared is imperative, but it is certainly worth it for the people who take the plunge. It will be a great scenic view from high up in the plane especially on a nice clear day, making the experience that much better.

As you and the instructor jump out of the plane, you will experience up to sixty seconds of freefalling, knowing that the instructor is right behind you all the time. As the parachute opens, you will then have a breathtaking experience lasting from four to six minutes in the air before landing. You get a chance to steer the parachute which can also be a great experience and then you can take in the great views and sights around you.

If you are a more experienced skydiver, New Jersey can also be a great place to go skydiving. A lot of the skydiving schools offer an eight jump skydiving program to its students, or you can choose a lesson by lesson program for whatever suits your requirements.

So whatever level you are at, skydiving in New Jersey helps to cater for everyone to offer the best experience possible.

John Ewing is the editor and journalist of many information websites like http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com , who has written more articles and newsletters on Ohio Skydiving . It makes it even better when the skies are crystal clear and the views are spectacular, making it a great time to skydive.

Somewhere that a lot of people may not consider is Arizona, which may not sound like the best place but in fact it could be somewhere very good to skydive indeed.

The great sights of the desert can make Arizona a great and breathtaking place to skydive and it is a popular spot for enthusiasts. Imagine being 10,000 feet up in the air and freefalling to the great and astonishing views that Arizona has to offer. It is certainly something that you have to do and see to believe, and for the people who do it, they keep on doing it all of the time.

Are there any Good Skydiving Centres in Arizona?

For anyone interested in skydiving in Arizona they will be pleased to know that there are five big skydiving centers which have really made a name for themselves throughout the years. These are:-
-Arizona Skydiving Coolidge
-Skydive Arizona
-Marana Skydiving Center
-Skydive Sedona
-Desert Skydiving Center

If you are interested in knowing where some of the best drop zones are available, then Coolidge is probably the best place to go. They offer a choice of tandem, Static line jumping, as well as AFF so it caters for everyone and helps to maximize the whole experience.

Another skydiving center which offers great promise is the Desert Skydiving Center. They also offer static line jumping, tandem and AFF but it is quite a bit smaller than Coolidge. The reason behind this is because it concentrates on using the basics which can offer a more of a “home” environment which a lot of people like.

For novice skydivers, Marana Skydiving center is the place to go to as they only offer tandem and static line jumping. If you are just starting out at skydiving, Marana skydiving center is a great place to come to.

For a less commercial center, Skydive Sedona offers tandem and AFF with a great drop zone as well as the great views.

Last but not least is skydive Arizona which is quite similar to Coolidge, but it has more amenities. The only downfall is that they have a lack of static line jumps which may be a disappointment to a few people.

John Ewing is a journalist who has written more articles and newsletters on this subject for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com . Except now you need to choose the training system you wish to follow. You have two different choices, the AFF (Accelerated FreeFall) course, or the Static line (also known as RAPS) system. Both methods have their pros and cons, and this article explains each system briefly. The best system for you depends on a few main factors, namely your time and financial restrictions.

What are the differences between the Static Line and the AFF course?

Throughout the world, the AFF and Static line systems are used by people who have decided that they would like to learn to skydive. Both methods are well established and have their own pluses and minuses.

The average number of jumps it takes to complete the static line system is about 30 – 50 parachute descents. This method of learning to skydive is the traditional way, and students jump on their own from their very first jump. Most people who learn to skydive using this method spread their learning time over a longer period, because of the number of jumps that are required to pass the course. However, despite taking longer in time, this does spread the financial costs too.

The AFF course requires a minimum of 8 skydives to graduate, and is a much more intensive training method. Students jump with instructors holding onto them in freefall, starting off with 2 instructors on levels 1, 2 and 3, then one instructor for subsequent levels. Once these AFF skydives are completed, the student then goes on to make 10 solo ‘consolidation’ jumps. These skydives are designed for the student to consolidate the knowledge and skills learnt throughout the AFF course.

This system is designed to be undertaken over a continuous space of time, and the training can be started and completed in as little as 2 days. Financially, this does mean that there is a larger initial outlay straight away.

How many students will be training alongside me in the Static line system?

You can be taught in a group of up to 12 students whilst learning to skydive under the static line system, university students are one of the main groups of people that favour the system for this. You go through an initial ground school before making your first parachute jump, and after this jump it is quick and easy to go through the brief for your next jump. You will probably share all of the briefs, training and debriefing with the rest of your group, so will therefore have minimal time with your instructor to focus on your own personal skills.

How many students will be training alongside me in with the AFF system?

The AFF method of training is best suited to a one on one instructor/student ratio. This is due to the shorter time period that the course is experienced over. On AFF levels 1, 2 and 3, you will be skydiving with two AFF instructors on each skydive. This makes sure that every student has the maximum teaching time and training from their AFF instructor, and therefore able to work on any difficulties you as a student may have. Before each AFF skydive you will undertake a detailed brief, going through the skydive with your instructor. After each skydive you will sit down with your AFF instructor for a detailed debrief. Every AFF skydive is filmed by your instructor, so you can watch the video of your skydive and see exactly what you are doing in freefall, focusing on any areas for improvement. This video is invaluable as a learning aid, and it is not uncommon for static line students to convert to the AFF system in order to solve problems such as turning in freefall, due to the insight and freefall teaching time that the AFF system offers.

Will by instructor be jumping with me on each skydive?

With the static line system, you start jumping at lower altitudes and your parachute is automatically deployed. As you progress through the system, the altitude and therefore freefall delay increase. As a result, the instruction you get focuses on your body position on exit, and your canopy control. Later on in the course, when you start having a freefall delay you will be deploying your own canopy, still jumping alone. You will be fully drilled and briefed on your emergency procedures, however you are on your own should something not go as planned.

Learning to skydive on the AFF system, you have your instructor jump with you and give you teaching whilst in freefall using hand signals. Your AFF instructor will only ever be an arms length away- allowing your instructor to assist you should you encounter any difficulties. As an AFF student, your instructor communicates with you to help you improve your body position whilst in freefall, allowing you to actually learn in the air. This is a big plus point, and is what makes the AFF course ‘accelerated’, for the reason that you receive in air tuition. Your instructor will be able to tailor the course to your specific requirements, and give you more freedom in freefall.

Should I go abroad to learn to skydive?

Weather. One of the advantages of learning to skydive using the Static line method is the lower altitude that you jump from in the earlier stages of the program. The first five parachute descents are made from 3,500 ft, so should there be cloud cover (as you may find in the UK), you may still be able to jump. As long as the cloud is above their exit altitude, static line students can still jump. AFF students need a minimum exit altitude of 9000ft to jump, so the cloud base must be above this height. The AFF course is designed to be completed over a continuous time period, so many AFF students complete the course abroad. Spain and Florida are popular destinations, and better weather means more skydives, less delays, and therefore less chance of needing to repeat any levels.

Mike Worthington http://www.freefalladdicts.com

The Development Of a Skydive Regiment

The parachute discipline airborne forces contribute significantly to traditional military operations in conflict situations

Andrew Caxton is the author and editor of many resources published at http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com . Some historians even trace the first parachutes back to China in the 1100s.

Also anyone who wants to skydive will have to have a medical to make sure that they are fit enough to skydive.

After all of this has been done, an intensive training session will have to be undertaken to make sure that you know exactly what to do. You will have to listen to everything, then undertake some tests to make sure that you were paying attention to what you were being told. The seas of the Pacific Ocean dance across beaches of beautiful white sand; the mountains: majestic peaks dancing with the hues of the horizon; the desert: a parched, yet inviting, parcel that longs for your interest. Of these spectacles, an unlikely addition enlists attention; far above the horizon, a minuscule spec draws the eye. A bird….a plane? An insane fanatic that has abandoned a perfectly good aircraft? Bingo!! While not completely insane, skydivers have taken to the air in droves to experience the scenery at a never before seen viewpoint. Oregon from the sky has prove to be an ever inviting objective for skydiving fanatics and mere admirers alike.

Over the years, five major skydiving centers have emerged in Oregon: Eugene Skydivers, Central Oregon Skysports, Skydive Eagle Creek, Skydive Oregon, Inc. and Wright Brothers Skydiving.

Eugene Skydivers, offering tandem, AFF, and static line jumping, this facility does not boast many of the commercial amenities as others, but provides lower costs as a result of this.

Central Oregon Sky Sports, providing an incredible view of the Cascade Mountains, offers tandem and static line jumping. This site also focuses on the basics and does not offer many amenities.

Skydive Eagle Creek, offering tandem and static line jumping, is one of the less known drop zones in Oregon. Although it does offer some additional amenities, such as a pool, this facility is a little less popular than its counterparts.

Skydive Oregon, Inc. is an incredibly prevalent drop zone. Offering tandem and AFF, this facility is known for constantly having planes in the air and having some of the most exceptional planes in the industry.

Wright Brothers Skydiving, offering tandem and static line jumping, also offers all the basics in a skydiving drop zone. Although there is no pool or bar, this facility is held in the best regard as being one of the best in the business.

No matter your experience level, you owe it to yourself to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Oregon countryside. While ground level is impressive, it is nothing to compare with a bird’s eye view.

Andrew Caxton is a reliable journalist who has published more articles on this issue for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com He provides tips and advice about sky diving as well as on the best drop zones for your first skydive lessons

Aerohio Skydive Center

The Midwest United States may be one flat plain. but even flat can be exciting when you're falling at 120 miles per hour. That's why skydiving Ohio should be on everybody's list in the Buckeye state. College football and Indians baseball. move over. because Ohio parachuting is now the pastime to do.

Although almost anyone can skydive in Ohio. there are some things that beginners should know ahead of time. Skydiving Ohio requires some training. registration. and safety requirements before they actually let you take a jump out of an airplane.

First off. when you first arrive at a skydiving school or jump site. they will require you to fill out a registration form. The most important part of this form is the waiver. which is your way of saying that you won't hold the jump center liable if your Ohio parachuting experience goes bad.

Don't worry. though. The skydiving school will then make sure as possible that you will have the best experience doing your skydive in Ohio. They'll check to make sure you meet the United States Parachute Associate guidelines for health and fitness.

The final step before they actually let you leap is the training and the testing. Yes. there will be a quiz! You'll have to learn how to control your body in flight. as well as what to do with it when you land and other important parts of skydiving. Then you'll be required to pass a physical. oral. or written test to prove you were listening to the instructors.

Seem like a lot of requirements? Not really. You should be finished with them in 30 to 45 minutes. especially if your first jump is tandem. It also may depend on which one of these following fine Ohio establishments you choose to jump at:

Aerohio Skydiving Center in Rittman is closest to Akron (20 miles away) and offers the comfort and attention of a small jump center. Don't get them wrong. though. They have the facilities and capabilities of a large. cutting-edge skydiving school. as well.

Alliance Sport Parachute Club has been around for more than 40 years just west of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania. so they know how to provide the right combination of friendliness and seriousness to make your first jumps safe and fun.

Cleveland Parachute offers one of the rare chances to do indoor skydiving with its Virtual Reality Skydiving simulator. Plus. they have a clubhouse and volleyball court for after your real jump.

Andrew Caxton is a reliable journalist who has published more articles on this issue for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com For additional information regarding Learn to skydive or parachutes go to Learn to skydive

Why Do People Skydive?

Skydivers - Most people say we're crazy. Some say we have a death wish. Psychologists say people with an inclination to take high risks are a necessary part of the continuation of our species.

We are people from all walks of life. Students, blue-collar workers, engineers, doctors, nurses, you name it. What we have in common is an infinity for a high-risk sport, skydiving. Some also participate in other sports like scuba diving, kayaking, rock climbing, skiing. There is a sense of camaraderie among us. A sense that we understand a greater truth that is missed by most people.

Mentally it is an incredibly refreshing break from "society". Skydiving is a super stress reliever. When you are skydiving, you focus on that skydive and nothing else. This keeps away all the distractions of life. No room for stray thoughts or worries here. The intense focus and the pump of adrenaline leave you feeling mentally and physically cleansed.

And yes, the adrenaline is no doubt a part of it. Your body responds to the rush of adrenaline into it, bringing with it a sense of excitement and a surge of energy. Our human bodies are made to produce adrenaline as a survival mechanism and it is being regarded more and more as a necessary part of the human experience and overall health. Something any skydiver could have already told you a long time ago.

Stepping out the door of a flying airplane has other benefits too. It makes you mentally tough. It takes a lot of mind control to go against what you have been taught about danger since a child, get a hold of your thoughts, and realize that yes, it is okay to step out that door. You acquire an increased awareness of all that is around you. You develop a confidence in yourself and a quick response as events happen around you. The sense of accomplishment is incredible. Knowing you met your fear, took control, and pushed yourself to take that step flows over into other parts of your life.

When I did my first skydive a group of us from work went. I organized the outing. Everyone had a blast but I was the only person who did more than one jump. Later, in talking with one of the guys in the group he said to me - I know that whatever I face in life, I can remember that I went up in that plane and did a skydive. If I can summon the courage to do that, I can do anything. It was great.

Okay, so enough of the psychobabble mumbo jumbo. What is the sensation? When you step out the door of a flying airplane you are in freefall until the parachute is deployed. Most skydives are done from around 10,000 ft. to 14,000 ft. providing the skydiver anywhere from 30 seconds to 70 seconds of freefall time. Stick your arm out the window of a car doing 60 mph then imagine your whole body out there going twice as fast - then you start to get a little of the idea of what skydiving feels like.

No one I've ever talked to has been able to put into words the sensation of skydiving. Even asking first time jumpers - is there any way to describe what you just did - only elicits a wide-eyed, grinning, no way.

Freefall is such a stupendous sense of freedom. You are flying through the air, able to move your body in 3D. You can fly forward, back-up, move sideways, speed up how fast you are falling and slow down how fast you are falling. Yes, you are continually falling. But during that time you are definitely flying your body. You can do flips and twists. You can stand on your feet or stand on your head. There are absolutely no limits as to which direction you can move your body.

And let there be no doubt - there is not a plane around that can give you the same view. What an awesome sight to view 360 degrees around you - the sky, the horizon, the incredible beauty of the world, right there for you to see with no obstructions. To feel you are a part of that sky.

The parachute flies like a glider; responding to the pilot's input and slicing you through the sky. It can be flown slowly and smoothly or fast and wild. But either way, with correct pilot input, it would bring you safely and softly to landing on the earth.

Why do we skydive? The skydive school and premier jump location has national attention as one of the best skydiving capitals anywhere in North America.

Adventure Center Skydiving is situated at the Hollister Airport, which is due south of the garlic capital of the world, Gilroy, and east of Monterey Bay. This skydiving center provides the whole spectrum practically of equipment rentals and purchases , jump options from tandem to expert solo, and training. You can also request a full multimedia presentation, showcasing your first or your thousandth dive. It includes both still photo and full-on video services.

Unlike nearby San Francisco, the weather around this skydiving center is near perfect nearly all the time. Unlike San Francisco, there rarely is that chilly fog here. Just expect clear blue skies, calm winds, and the smiling sun on your face as you plummet from ten thousand feet.

Their skydive school and lessons program aren’t too shabby either. All of Adventure’s instructors have the USPA’s highest rating, which means they all have at least 1,000 jumps under their belt. Some even have up to 5,000 jumps in the resume. More importantly to you, the trainee, these instructors have also trained thousands of students just like you, and many have decades of teaching in their background.

Of course, Adventure isn’t the only jump center and skydive school in the San Francisco and northern California area. It may be the best, but here are some other centers that give it stiff competition for that number one ranking:

Adrenaline Air Skydiving of Santa Rosa is located 50 miles south of San Francisco. From your vantage in the heavens there, you will have unique and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

SkyDance Skydiving Quality is only 20 miles away from Sacramento, but is well worth the visit no matter where you’re located in California. It’s specialty is the 30,000-foot skydives, and it’s other claim to fame is that it was home to the 1988 Olympic Skydiving Team.

Bay Area Skydiving is 60 miles to the east of San Francisco, so it’s central to the Bay Area, as well as the Central Valley. You can jump anyway you want here, including skysurfing and freeflying.

John Ewing is the author and editor of many resources published at http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com. Despite the prevalent myth that equipment problems are the biggest culprits for causing accidents, operator error is actually the root cause the majority of the time.

Collisions are often the result of parachute canopies deploying too close together. Many landing difficulties are attributable to skydivers overestimating how much time they have to complete turns and other maneuvers, or landing near obstacles. A few landing fatalities involve drowning related to landing in water. Equipment malfunctions rarely involve failure of the parachute or reserve to deploy, as may be a common belief, but more often involve lines that become entangled.

Another misconception about a skydiving accident may be that novices are most often the victims of accidents, but students are actually rarely involved in accidents. More experienced jumpers who try maneuvers requiring a high level of skill are more likely to experience a parachuting accident. Accidents took the lives of 21 people in 2004, down from 25 in 2003, 33 in 2002, and 35 in 2001, some of which may have did a jump without parachute.

A comparison of the statistics regarding skydiving fatalities with fatality statistics from sports that may be considered less risky, such as scuba diving, shows that parachuting actually poses less of a risk than most people perceive. For example, according to reports, approximately 30 out of 100,000 skydiving participants are killed in the United States each year. This rate compares to 47 out of 100,000 for scuba diving, 50 out 100,000 for mountain climbing, and 67 out of 100,000 for hot air ballooning. So don’t let safety fears scare you from making that first skydive.

On an interesting note, history includes a few cases of people who have survived a jump without parachute from very high altitudes. Some notable survivors of these jumps were airmen from World War II. One fighter pilot was forced to jump from his bomber plane when it came under enemy fire in France. He fell 20,000 feet, crashed through a skylight on the roof of a train station, sustained severe injuries, and eventually recovered. Other scenarios involved airmen leaving their planes for the same reason and falling anywhere from 18,000 to 22,000 feet and surviving because their fall was broken by trees and snow drifts.

Andrew Caxton is a consultant who writes on many consumer topics like the above article at http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com. Jumping Future Concept

Probably the most dangerous sport known to man is BASE Jumping. We have all seen pictures and videos of these daredevils as they purposely jump off a Bridge, Building, Antenna, Cliff or various pieces of infrastructure and then pop their parachute just prior to splatting on the ground. Hello Earth!

In the last few years extreme parachuting and BASE jumping has become a very popular as there are always plenty of spectators to watch the death defying feats and those who dare to deliver the goods are in for the adrenaline rush of their lives. Unfortunately this is a sport, which claims many lives each year and is even more dangerous than being an astronaut or racing NASCAR.

It is for this reason I propose some safety features for those who are getting started in BASE jumping to help with their training as they attempt the sport of extreme parachuting. I propose using the latest cutting edge and state of the art Holographic Technologies, which are getting closer to becoming reality using 3D and 4D projection.

The BASE Jumper would just prior to the attempt turn on his micro projection unit strapped to his chest and match step for step a previous attempt by an expert world-class jumper. This projection would be played as he jumped and when the image in front of him pulled the rip cord so would he and thus be insured that he did not splat on the rocks, water or concrete below. Think on the use of this technology on your next BASE jump!

"Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. Those days are long gone, thankfully, and though skydiving pants are still part of some alternative fashion ensembles, such as hippy pants and other baggy gear that twenty-first century hippy types like to wear, they are very much an important part of skydiving gear in general.

And what’s more important to skydivers but their gear? It is their gear that protects their lives and they in fact put their lives in the hands of the gear, so to speak. Now you can see the importance of skydiving pants. Skydivers can wear jeans or shorts underneath their parachute pants depending on the weather, but they sure as heck better have those skydiving pants on over the top.

These pants are part of the whole jumpsuit. These aren’t necessary required to leap out of a plane, but they can help to control your speed and give you more control when you’re in free fall. These jumpsuits tend to be made in two general styles. They can be made of special slippery fabrics and tailored tight around the body for faster speeds, or they can be designed in that typical MC Hammer baggy fashion with canvas-like material to help slow down fall speeds.

Other clothing that doubles as protective and practical gear for skydivers includes a helmet and goggles. Helmets are mandatory clothing for beginner jumpers, but don’t be embarrassed if you happen to be one, most experts wear them too. You can even individualize yours, choosing from styles like old leather football helmets to hard, motorcycle-like helmets. Depending on your helmet, you may need to protect your eyes with goggles.

The pants, suits, and helmets are just one aspect of your skydiving equipment. Other gear includes an automatic activation device (or AAD). which helps to safeguard you in case you drop too low in altitude without pulling your cord, the AAD does it automatically for you. Also, there is the reserve static line (or RSL). which is another safety device. The RSL is your lifeline and pull cord for your reserve parachute.

Andrew Caxton is a journalist who has written more articles and newsletters on the subject for http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com For additional information on skydiving subjects follow this link skydiving t-shirts

Parachuting Is Fun

What is the parachute? Nothing more than a thin, lightweight fabric, supported by tapes and suspension lines and attached to one's body by special strong shoulder and waist straps, called risers, once manufactured out of silk. However, the days when parachutes were made out of silk have long passed. During the Second World War the parachutes introduced were made out from more durable materials, like woven nylon fabric. Today's parachutes are made from a variety of long-lasting fabrics and materials, all selected to enhance performance and improve consistency over time; needless to say, something extremely important when one's life is at stake!

According to the online version of Encyclopedia Britanica, the parachute is "a device that slows the vertical descent of a body falling through the atmosphere or the velocity of a body moving horizontally." This is easier to understand, if one considers that through the use of a parachute a person increases his or her body's surface area, which results in increased air resistance and thus a body's motion slows down. Made out of soft and light fabrics, today's parachute is both a pilot's life savior device and a parachute fan's exciting experience.

The word "parachute" is a combination of two French words: para (protect or shield) and chute (the fall). Thus, it literally means fall protection. But protecting oneself when falling from a height due to earth's gravity, towards land or sea, is actually something that even when the parachute is worn still has to take place. Luckily, due to the industry's innovations, contemporary parachutes come in a variety of shapes and types, while all are quite maneuverable and can be navigated.

The simpler version of parachute is the round one. Mainly used for their dragging features, in military, emergency units, and cargo applications, round parachutes are large mushroom-shaped canopies that prevent a body or object from falling on to the earth's surface due to gravity. By extending the area of an object, these life-saving devices lower the velocity of a falling object or human being and thus, are greatly admired. Their contemporary version is much more stable than in the past and permits the person falling to navigate it towards the desired landing area. Other variations of the round parachute are the pull down apex parachute, the Para-Commander-type canopy, or the ribbon and ring parachutes. All offer different navigational experience to the one using them and are preferred in different circumstances and occasions.

Yet, no matter what your excuse to jump off a plane might be, it is absolutely essential to be professionally trained before attempting to use this device. Begin by conducting some research on the training facilities existing in your area and check their trainers' profiles, hours of operation, plains, parachutes, uniforms worn by skydivers and other materials used prior to take off. Keep in mind that it is always best if you take some precaution before taking a risk.

Kadence Buchanan writes articles on many topics including Sports, Recreation, and Travel
